The popular “Birds on a Wire” series resonates with the iconic image of a crow/raven on telephone wires that allows the artist to experiment with iconicity within the landscape/cityscape. Cornices & Crows is the artist exploring the architecture of the Upper Haight Victorians and their Edward Hopper feel of light and line. Noe’s painting style is both illustrative with bold lines and abstract shapes that suggest form. The Bay Area Painters, Richard Diebenkorn and Wayne Thiebaud influence Noe’s large cityscape work with the use of streets as dominant shapes that communicate the exaggerated landscape of San Francisco.
